I say YES!

I live to be fully alive as myself.  I feel deeply thrilled and enlivened in the presence of others who choose to show up and be fully present as themselves.  I work in exclusive service to authenticity flourishing.
 
Energy exploration and play are powerful approaches to authenticity.  There's a wonderful liberation when we come to know ourselves and others to be dynamic, evolving, totally unique expressions of consciousness vividly interacting with possibility in a vibrantly interconnected flow of experience.

I say YES.  I say YES.  I say YES.  I say YES.  I look deeply.  I say YES.  I look deeply.  I hold space for things to be as they are in that moment and am keenly aware that what takes place in the very next moment has no need to be predicated on what came before.  I am aware that the likelihood is strong that the next moment WILL closely resemble this one IF we hold to the notion that the past drives us forward.  But I know that the past is the past.  The now is infinite and the next moment arising from the depth of authentic core is without restriction in its choosing.

Energy medicine practices, exercises and protocols are invitations to look deeply. They are the playful interactions that open an energy field to remember its true nature as a joyous, liberated creator of infinite power.  The exercises are NOT the medicine itself.  The medicine of energy is in the willingness to recognize our true, deep, rich natures and call forth the indwelling capabilities to change and realign as we feel moved from a place of absolute freedom to do so.

Energy medicine is NOT a practice of engaging what's wrong and forcing the energies into new patterns conforming to notions of what is correct.  The medicine of energy is co-creative openness to possibility and a deep confidence that what is has no need to continue and yet it may continue... without blame or judgment. 

There is nothing I need to do.  I show up.  I choose to be present.  I look deeply.  I say YES.  Then I wonder what will arise next.  I witness & stand in alliance with the birthing of that new creative expression arising in the now.  I say YES. I say YES.  I say YES.

"to sleep mom"

Here's a great little story my friend and former EEM student Claudia Alvarez invited me to share:

A couple of months ago, I was trying to put to nap my 22 months old toddler, but he was jumping and singing and doing everything but going to sleep. After I tried 30 min. I decided to let him go, but he insist: "to sleep mom" so I stayed with him next to his crib, and he started to jump again.

One hour of his "sleepy mom" and jumping I was frustrated and angry, so I yelled to him.. "go to sleep now" but he laughed.

Energy Work As Authenticity Invitation

What motivates me? Authenticity... and Authentic Creative Expression.

In my experience energy work is all about...

Making robust space for ourselves on the planet, so we can say YES to All That Is.

Connecting up with the energies of earth and sky.

Mobilizing the power to be fully present and bring our gifts generously into the world.

Strengthening our capacities for discernment, so we understand and engage our world with clarity and grace.

Activating our ability to be self referencing.

Unearthing who we really are.

Liberating ourselves from stagnant energies, old habits, and all that no longer serves us.

Organizing and integrating our energies in harmony with our inherent, distinct blueprints of our uniqueness.

Generating joy.

Inviting our deepest selves to operate fully and vibrantly.

Expressing our most authentic knowingness creatively moment by moment.

For me...  energy work is all about inviting authenticity. 

Everything I do as energy practice is in service to the flourishing of authenticity everywhere.

I relish the opportunity to engage co-creatively with energies to activate authenticity.

The Least I Can Do

In my energy medicine practice I begin by asking, "What is the least I can do?" 

My intent:  to hold space for transformation in deep harmony with the authentic core of a person's being.

Recognizing that healing is a completely personal evolutionary experience that thrives in good company, I show up and choose to be present as witness and ally.

Energy Practices Evolve... and so does the Making Eden Energy Medicine Our Own project

Energy practices evolve.  Effective energy practices arise through close attention to the energies themselves.  Learning from what others are sharing sparks new possibilities.  That's what Making Eden Energy Medicine Our Own is all about.  It's the basic practice Donna Eden teaches:  Pay attention to what the energies are doing and what they need.  Learn, borrow, adapt, and create practices that help liberate and organize a person's energies.  Go out and make this work your own.

I'm deeply appreciative of all the sharing that has taken place here in the Making Eden Energy Medicine Our Own project so far.  The richness of the offerings has been stimulating.

Yesterday Making Eden Energy Medicine Our Own shared 2 posts by different Core Team members.  Lyn Milum's  Ancient Echoes and Injury Recall Technique and Judith Poole's Ancient Echoes Modified arose independently of each other, but explored similar questions.  I'll phrase a few of them in my own language here:  How does the Applied Kinesiology practice known as Injury Recall Technique relate to the Eden Energy Medicine practice known as Ancient Echoes?  What happens when I engage these processes?  What's happening energetically?  What other energies and energy systems might work well with these processes? Where can I go from here to deepen my knowledge, skill, and rich engagement with energy particularly when looking to support the liberation of trapped energies from a person's field?

Their work engages what I consider to be key aspects of successful energy medicine practice:  mobilizing and sustaining curiosity, followed by a willingness to play with energies experimentally to deepen understanding in ways that are deeply respectful of an individual's uniqueness and readiness for energetic transformation, which leads to cultivation and refinement of effective practices that support flourishing. 

Transforming Energy with Fire

When I do energy work, I like to have fire present.  I might have a candle flame situated nearby.  Sometimes I work outdoors at a fire pit. 

It is my awareness that energy varies in quality from dense and congested to light and free flowing.  When energies become compressed, they slow down and become sluggish.  They can become so densely compacted that they congeal and are no longer mobile.  These heavy energies become trapped in a person's luminous field, where they begin to distort the natural energy patterns. 

It can become difficult to liberate these heavy energies, partially because of their density and partially because people fear unleashing into the environment energies they experience as dark and frightening. 

I find that fire helps to liberate the energies.  Warming my hands by the flame before spinning a chakra, for instance, helps melt and loosen trapped energies.  Running the heat of the fire along a meridian can free energies hardened in that river of light.

The fire also helps combust the dense energies, transforming them back into their raw state and making them available to manifest in new, creative ways.  This is among the most exciting energy realizations I have had.  Engaging the power of fire when I release trapped energies from my own field or as I support someone else in the process of relinquishing energies from their field, we are actually not only liberating ourselves from patterns that are inauthentic and weighing us down, but we are also gifting fresh, vibrant energies back to nature and contributing creatively to the evolving universe.

When I share this awareness with someone whose energies I'm supporting energetically, I find they relax and allow the energies that no longer serve them to flow out of their field, find transformation in the fire, and become available for something new and wonderful that is arising in that moment.

Even if a literal flame is not available while I am working, I can call upon the energies of fire by mobilizing a hot breath.  During chakra work I often invite a person to envision a hot fire deep in the spinning vortex.  That envisioned heat helps to strip away and combust the dense energies.  As the chakra spins counter clockwise the energies begin to rise sweetly to the surface and dissipate into the environment.

There's a potent, calm beauty in working co-creatively with the elements of nature. It reminds me that my task is to show up and be present with the intention to invite the authentic flourishing of a person's luminous energy field.  The energies themselves make the leap into new ways of being.

Energy Awareness

As the Making Eden Energy Medicine Our Own summer online project has gotten underway, I've been reflecting on my experiences with Donna's work, thinking how my understanding of energy medicine has evolved and deepened... and so has Donna's.  Even a quick glance at the covers of 3 different versions of Donna Eden's classic book Energy Medicine shows an evolution from a focus on the energy practitioner to an awareness of the energies themselves and finally to a community of vibrant beings in harmony with all of creation. 

I acquired  the hard cover original shortly after it was published.  Later when the paperback edition came out,  I bought it partially to save the hardbound version from further abuse as I referred to it often as I worked with my own energies and the energies of others.   My copy of the 10th anniversary edition, revised in 2008,  is autographed by Donna... something I'd never gotten around to doing with the original two, even though I started studying with Donna 12 years ago this month at Esalen in Big Sur, CA... and even though I've been teaching with her on and off for the past 10 years.   I keep them stashed around in various places so I always have one handy.

I take my time with things... especially things that have depth and richness.  That's how I experience Donna's approach to energy.   It keeps me coming back to deepen my experience of what she's offering.  And more importantly it inspires me to explore the underlying nature of things at the energy level, to invite my own energies and the energies of all that I encounter to resonate with their most luminous potential, and to live life from the depth of my authentic being.

Today we begin...

Today we begin a 2 month exploration... an experiment really... in sharing our own authentic experiences with Eden Energy Medicine (EEM).  I'm deeply appreciative of the unique, talented, loving, skillful, innovative individuals who have stepped up to join the project's Core Team to share weekly blog posts, and to the Community Members, who will be contributing to the ongoing conversation.  

The group is still gathering and getting a sense of what this process is all about.  As we begin to delve in, the project is starting to reveal its nature.  It's part planning and part discovery.  We'll find out as we go what this process really can be.

Here are a few visions I'm holding for the Making Eden Energy Medicine Our Own project:

~ I envision this project and its offerings creating an enormous container that invites everyone who engages here to look deeply to discover their own unique ways of expressing EEM in their lives.

~ I envision each Core Team Member sharing their radiant ways of living and working with EEM through blog posts that remain completely focused on their own practices and approaches, stepping away from the role of expert into the role of generous sharer of personal insight and experience.  We're not here in this place to tell anyone what EEM practices to do or how to do them.  We are here to share what we do and how we do it, why, with whom, etc.  We hope our sharing is an inspiration to you to find out what works for you.

~I envision us all stretching our awarenesses as we look at our own lives and work through a deeply personal lens. And as we open to receive the gifts offered by everyone here.

~ I envision the content shared here to be offered in ways that are welcoming to those unfamiliar with EEM as well as to people well versed in Donna Eden's energy practices.

~ I envision unknown blessings arising from the process... joyously, lovingly, creatively.

Summertime... and the energies will be flowing sweetly

Making Eden Energy Medicine Our Own is a pilot project, providing opportunity for innovative ideas to build on each other, enhancing the wellbeing of the Eden Energy Medicine (EEM) community and those it serves.

We're getting organized at the moment:  preparing this webspace and gathering our Core Team & Community Members of EEM practitioners & students, who are gearing up to freely share fun, engaging, insightful, and generous stories, observations, and experiences about how they are bringing EEM into the world in their own unique ways.

We'll launch the 2 month summer project on June 1, 2011.  During June and July we hope you'll engage with us as we explore a wide range of ways to share deeply personalized approaches to the dynamic energy medicine practices Donna Eden has cultivated and shared with the world.

Here's to a deeply lively and healing flow of information and energy... for the benefit of all.
