Process, Belief, and the Mystery

Awareness is a Searchlight.

The Confines of Lack:   If my awareness is on my unwellness, I tend to become more perceptive of ways I feel unwell and how it impacts me.

Techniques That All Work … one time or another:   If my focus is on "how do I get well?"  I can become overwhelmed by the growing number of the best new processes and insights taught by another amazing and gifted teacher.

The Gift of Skilled Guidance:    If my searchlight is on, "who is the right practitioner or teacher for me to work with now?"  I'll be led to a series of fabulous and effective allies.  I may also feel dependent on them, anxious that I make the right choice and hoping that their intuition and guidance will be the best thing for me now to move quickly into the relief of feeling better or learning a new skill.

The Promise of Processes

 I love learning Energy Medicine techniques, processes that open my eyes to more ways that subtle energies interact and produce our health, and enliven the joy of our journey. When I learn from fabulous teachers, I believe … because the understanding resonates with a part of me that already  knows this is a truth for me. 

 I have a delighted Metal element side that enjoys keeping up an extensive cross-referenced data-base of powerful and fascinating methods to approach the intelligence of living energies, to partner with them and invite their balance. I sometimes lean towards the idea that knowing lots of techniques would enable me to help more people, and better help myself.  When my focus centers heavily in techniques, seeking the promise of the magic bullet, self-doubt tends to step up and suggest I will never be effective enough because I'll never know enough. 

When I move from feeling unwell into expanded wellness, I tend to credit the last process I experienced or the last healing facilitator who helped me, or both.  Process and practitioner are each part of my gratitude stream.  But neither is the essence of what has occurred when I feel better. 

Leaping off

Putting aside, for now, fears of engaging an ineffective technique for the situation that's presenting,

Putting aside too, fears of not knowing enough to be effective in helping myself or another …

Putting aside, for now, the worry of correctly choosing, connecting with the ally who will most benefit me in my current situation …

What's Essential in All of This?

Every energy healing modality out there has a common theme: that from our individual core comes the perpetual wellspring of our restorative power.  Expansions of wellness arise continually from an inner, invincible, intelligent source.  Whatever the technique and whoever the practitioner, this intrinsic transcendental force is what has been facilitated and mobilized and realized when I "feel better."

The Flow of the Constant

Which technique, which teacher, what effect?     What is the constant in this equation? 

Or rather, "WHAT" is the constant in this equation.

The searchlight of my awareness tends to seek into the known; which admired teacher, which fabulous technique, how to blend and synthesize what I have learned and experienced so far to serve the vitality of the living energies.  In response to dwelling primarily on what I consciously know, I practice a different awareness, noticing when I'm analyzing and over-thinking the work, and dissolving technique and theory and best-guessing into my fresh experience of what is transpiring.

Turning my searchlight towards the response, I open to what is answering our invitation to restore flow and balance and wellness. From here, I can go deeper into the mystery.

Of Course

This may feel like an obvious point to some of my readers.  In Eden Energy Medicine we are taught to defer to the energies of the person as they present, to let the patterns they bring guide us to whatever techniques we feel resonant with, and let the "work" adjust and change as we flow with the healing relationship in action. 

But for me, there's a profound shift when I dance lightly with choices, techniques, teachers, methods and self-doubt, and open to the wonder of what is essentially happening.

Beyond Believing

 When I enter the sacred space of a person's becoming, and set aside believing in what I'm doing because of my trust in my teachers, this also sets aside my expectations.  It undoes the subtle limitations that lie within what I currently believe.  I move slightly away from the trust of belief, and more towards knowing my own experience of the vital and flowing energy.

Show me. 

When I do my best to hear what you are telling me, beautiful noble soul dwelling with and within your amazing miraculous body, when I respond with my best idea of a process to invite your energies into greater ease and flow … and then I let go of everything except my awareness of your essence, and what you bring forward through our focus together …

what will you show me?

What is emerging and mobilizing now?  What is the nature of the aliveness that is activating? What is reconnecting?  What is stepping back into the flow of the wellness stream?  What is the momentum behind the healing that arises? What is the source of this inner force? How does the Light of the Infinite appear through the amazing being that you are?

Lyn,

I always love your poetic posts. In some ways, the dilemma you share is why I tend NOT to train in many modalities. I am metal/water, and what I appreciate about my water side is that it likes to dive off the high board and plunge deep into a particular approach in a desire to plumb its never-ending depths--EEM being perhaps my favorite, with reiki and flower essences being phenomenally helpful partners to that.

Thanks for the reminder to ask doubt to step aside and be in the moment.
