A Cloak of Shining Dragonflies - the Celtic Weave

 Awareness:  An intricate interweaving of figure 8 patterns, or infinity patterns ∞, large and small, dances our energy systems together and is an energy system of its own that Donna Eden calls "the Celtic Weave."  She also teaches an exercise by that name that restores and reinforces the fabric of the auric field, the boundary and space extending around the entire body that intelligently draws in energies and influences that we welcome, and filters out unwanted energies coming our way.  Her Celtic Weave exercise can be found in her book, Energy Medicine.  The exercise I share here is a free-style version I like to use.

Steps 8-16 and Finishing Touches

 

8. Hold Stomach Meridian Points:

 

Holding the first points at the beginning of the stomach meridian moves energy that may be stuck as in bloating, nausea, indigestion, or even difficult emotions.

• After preparing your client by explaining what the next step is, slowly and lightly touch your second or third fingertips just below both of your client’s lower eyelids.  If touching the skin seems too intense, hold the points in the field about 1 inch above the skin.  Hold for 1-2 minutes.

Kids Teaching Kids

I was tickled pink when I saw this happening!  My 8 year old son was teaching his 6 year old cousin how to self energy test!

This all began last year when my son kept coming up to me and asking me which Pokemon type (a cartoon creature) he was.  He really wanted to be a Pokemon Trainer.  At that time, I had done some energy work with him and we had done the 2 person energy testing, holding the arm out to the side and checking to see if the energy was flowing or not.  So, now the energy testing had moved into the Pokemon world to energy test which Pokemon "type" he was going to work with.  Finally, one day, I had too many interruptions and I showed him the self energy test making a circle with the index finger and thumb with one hand and breaking the link with the other index finger.  He loved it.

Back to the day of this picture.....my son and nephew were playing Pokemon and here he is standing, teaching his cousin, sitting on the swing, the self energy test!

For anyone that is not familiar with the Pokemon cartoon world, originating in Japan, Pokemon are creatures that have a human trainer/owner.  Each Pokemon is a certain type - water type, grass type or fire type for the starter Pokemons. (Sound familiar from the 5 Elements?)  Most Pokemon and trainers engage in friendly battles or contests.  But as with most cartoons or movies, it is the battle between the good and the not so good or a race against time.

When the writing doesn't arise . . .

As anyone who read my last blog entry on twirling may have surmised I’m not always a whiz at managing all of the competing demands on my time.  I do the best I can and try to have a sense of humor when it becomes glaringly apparent that I am still human despite best efforts. (wink wink)  This week I have been feeling particularly stressed as I had committed to writing eight blog entries before the end of July and to date have only succeeded in drafting two. 

Now I love to write and usually have a lot to say so my husband and close friends have been surprised that I’ve been struggling to get these blog posts done.  I carved out time in the early morning hours specifically to write.  Strangely nothing happened.  So I tried carving out longer periods of time.  More nothing resulted.  I was both tired and puzzled.   

As a college student I had excelled at showing up to the computer and banging out whatever pithy paper was required.  The only prerequisites for writing were that there had to be an impending deadline and I had to be able to twiddle and play with my hair throughout the writing process.  I usually allotted just enough time between writing and deadline to tame my post writing Don King like coif before zipping to class, completed paper in hand.  I was a writing superhero able to draft off tall stacks of papers in a single bound.  I was a legend in my own mind.  Writing was a faucet I turned on and off at will.

Making Our Own Energy Medicine – Part Two

I recently spoke about how we create our own energy medicine through loving objects healing us and now I would like to discuss the opposite. Just the way aromatherapy can make you feel better, bad smells can make you sick. The same idea applies to objects and things we surround ourselves with. Not everything around us is helpful and sometimes we have too much clutter, which creates its own problems. The same thing can happen within us.

Let's start with what I feel is the most basic and fundamental idea of what I am talking about. If it feels good it is good and if it feels bad it is bad. We have all walked into a room and either felt better or worse without really understanding why.  It comes down to the energy the room is filled with.

Sometimes when I know clutter has built up in a closet, let's say, just the idea of it sits in my head, taking up space and creating a heavy feeling of “this thing I am ignoring and really should be doing”. Really unhelpful. So, clearing and cleansing our surroundings and ourselves can be a great stress reliever!

What I don't like about energy medicine

Here's what I don't like about energy medicine:

I don't like how late in my life I came to learn how  to work with my own vital energy. I wish I'd known about triple warmer when my daughter had asthma attacks when she was 2. I wish I'd known about grief, and metal, and the lungs when I had pneumonia. I wish I'd been able to interpret my body's language when it was telling me "support wood; support wood; support wood!" Maybe I wouldn't have had a senseless operation on the tendon in my wrist, let alone letting them remove my gall bladder.

I don't like knowing that I probably understand stuff about the human body that none of my "real" doctors know. But even more I am continuously frustrated that my doctors don't want to learn from me even though I'd be so happy to teach them!

I don't like knowing how much emotions are involved in health, and how much trauma underlies major health issues, when this knowledge isn't shared so any visit to a physician could be an occasion for new diagnosis shock. If I ran the zoo then no one could practice medicine who didn't first understand the sensory modes: tonal, visual, kinesthetic, and digital. I'd want all physicians to know the impact their words have, particularly on patients who are tonal. I'd help them see that visual patients need positive images of healing to focus upon. I'd be sure they were aware of the level of sensitivity that a person who is kinesthetic might have to medications, to environmental influences, and even to their ubiquitous hand sanitizers. And I'd want them to recognize that despite the apparent rationality of those with a digital preference, there could be underlying emotions that may lie deeper under the surface.

Connecting Heaven and Earth

Connecting Heaven and Earth is truly one of my favorite energy techniques.

In the mornings, I walk out to the back yard, step into the grass and just let my bare feet really savor the feel of the grass and the earth. Watching the trees murmur in the wind, the insects dance with the winds,and feeling the sun’s nourishing energy, connecting with the rhythm of the earth’s heartbeat. Then I stretch my hands high to the sky and press deeply into the earth.

At night, I always search for the moon and really absorb the gentle energy of it – I’ve always loved the many phases of the moon so I turn my face toward it and softly stretch my body toward it with one hand embracing the silvery soft enegy while the other hand caresses the earth's energy.

I’ve noticed that during the mornings and throughout the day with the sun shining on me when I’m connecting heaven and earth it’s a much stronger, forceful, deeper stretch. In the moonlight it’s a soft, slow, nearly flowing dance between heaven and earth.

Anytime I’m outside I connect with heaven and earth. And as often as not I'm barefooted. Afterwards I bring my hands to my heart, close my eyes, smile, and softly hum as the energy settles within me.

Earth Energies Rising (part 3): The Golden Hearts

With each breath we are gifted abundance. Breathing in through our nose and mouth, in through our chakras, in through our aura, in through our mingmen point and kidneys, in through the Wellspring of life on the ‘souls’ of our feet (yes, I know it is not the correct spelling for ‘sole’, but it is so appropriate. A future blog will be about the magical Wellspring of Life, which I see as an exchange point between our soul and the Earth).

And just to go off the beaten path a little…..I would offer that another place we breathe in deeply is through the area known as the raglan sleeves…the seam where our body meets our arms. An area of very powerful and sacred energy I used to wonder if this energetic opening was a vortex (before I knew how to test for a vortex), but it never felt to me that it was anything that was at all problematic or challenging. It looked somewhat similar to a vortex, but rather than the spiraling/tornado-like energy represented by a vortex, these openings look shimmery, more gentle, more beautiful. Imagine smearing that part of your body and aura with a little swirly honey and then throwing golden fairy dust on it…if you are seeing that in your mind’s eye then you are seeing what I see when there is energy moving in and out of those raglan sleeve areas. Again, much like the K1 point, I perceive it as an exchange point, a portal, this time between our spirit energy and the universal energy within which we exist. There are times when this area is not at all active or open…and that feels right for those times, but when it is active then there is an open-ness, a beautiful vulnerability that we experience.

Separating and Connecting Heaven & Earth

Awareness:  Like mental activity that gets caught in the head (released by the Crown Pull), static energy can become trapped in the joints.  Energy is dynamic and fluid, and we feel best when it is in motion, bringing in fresh supplies of life force, moving freely through all our structures and systems, and releasing in appropriate balance with receiving.  Not only does this exercise move stuck energies from the joints, but it is a way of opening up space to hold the uniqueness of our life.  An ancient Qi Gong exercise, it was known as Separating Heaven & Earth, carving out and claiming space for expressing our unique fullness.  As Connecting Heaven & Earth, it's a way of calling in what we desire from the abundance of the Universe. I appreciate Barbara Ann O'Leary and Melanie Smith for expanding my understanding of this exercise.

Mobilizing the power to be fully present and bring our gifts generously into the world.

Activating our ability to be self referencing.

Unearthing who we really are.

Liberating ourselves from stagnant energies, old habits, and all that no longer serves us.

Organizing and integrating our energies in harmony with our inherent, distinct blueprints of our uniqueness.

Generating joy.

Inviting our deepest selves to operate fully and vibrantly.

Expressing our most authentic knowingness creatively moment by moment.

For me...  energy work is all about inviting authenticity. 

Everything I do as energy practice is in service to the flourishing of authenticity everywhere.

I relish the opportunity to engage co-creatively with energies to activate authenticity.
